In 2011, University of Surrey, Guildford, Surrey, United Kingdom held its 120th anniversary and Engr Humphrey C N Adibe was amongst the alumni awarded honorary degrees to mark the occasion. He was admitted to the Degree of Bachelor of the University (Honoris Causa).

Engr Humphrey C N Adibe attended Battersea College of Technology (University of London) and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1961. Battersea College of Technology would later become an independent university named University of Surrey. He received the Honoris Causa certificate (when it got to him in 2012) with delight as a proud alumnus of the University – Forever Surrey!

Unfortunately the certificate has been defaced due to improper handling but the condolence letter sent by the university during his funeral attested to the award of the Honoris Causa.
